Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
In partnership with the Granite City Area Community Foundation (GCACF), SMRLD is leading the way to bring DPIL to 62040. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library puts books into the hands and hearts of children across our community by putting books into their homes. The Imagination Library mails more than 1.4 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children from birth to age five. This program has been widely researched and results suggest positive increases in key early childhood literacy metrics. Studies have shown that having books in the home is proved to positively benefit children’s academic success, vocabulary development, attention, and job attainment. Individuals, families, or organizations may sponsor children. A donation of just $125 will support a child from birth until their 5th birthday, gifting them with 1 book a month for the duration. A gift of $25 will sponsor a child for one year. Donations can be made online here or by check payable to GCACF Fund, with a notation that the donation is being made for the SMRLD Dolly Parton lmagination Library.
