Free Adult Computer Classes held at two locations, SMRLD Training and Events Room 2001 Delmar Avenue Granite City, IL and Pontoon Beach Administration Board Room 1 Regency Parkway Pontoon Beach, IL. Join us for 
Complete Job Search: June 2 &20 Successful job searching requires preparation. This course will guide you through an assessment of your personal strengths, and teach you how to complete effective applications, resumes, and cover letters. You will learn to use the Internet to search for jobs and learn effective skills for interviewing and follow-up. Prior to taking this course, you should already have basic Windows, Word, Internet and Email skills. 
Resumes and Cover Letters: June 6 & 30 Successful job searching requires preparation. You will learn to use the Internet to search for jobs and learn effective skills for interviewing and follow-up. Introduction to Computers: June 7 In this fun, hands-on course you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working with Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using Email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.
Exploring the Internet: June 14 The Internet is a vast resource that can educate, inform, and entertain you. And it can be a pretty good place to shop too! This course is geared to the new Internet user, and begins with an overview of websites and browsers and online safety. Then it’s off to discover some of the best the Internet has to offer including sites for lifelong learning, entertainment sources for streaming music and movies, the best of shopping, and more. Appropriate for desktop, tablet, and smartphone users.
Exploring Google: June 21 Come explore some of the most helpful apps that Google offers. This course will introduce you to storing and backing up your files in Google Drive, finding your way around and viewing the world in a new way with Google Maps, and keeping your personal and professional life scheduled in Google Calendar. These apps are all free to use and are available for both desktop and mobile devices. This class will introduce you to the desktop versions of each app.
Wellness on the Web: June 28 The web is a phenomenal resource for health information. This course will introduce you to the types of websites you can use to learn about health issues, blogs that you can follow to learn what’s new, online resources you can work out with, and mobile apps that can help you in your journey toward a healthier tomorrow.

Youth Summer Reading Program 
June 1 – August 2

Registration begins Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at both locations! Register by July 22. Reading records may be turned in through August 2 to receive your free book and register for the grand prizes.  At registration, participants will receive a reading record to log the books read. Bring this with you every time you visit the library to receive a prize or enter a drawing. After the first 5 books each child will get a small prize or an entry form for a chance to win other prizes.  After the next 5 books, participants have completed the required 10 books to finish! Each will receive a free book, certificate, and get another chance to enter to win the grand prizes. Kids in grades K-5 will be eligible to win a Kindle Fire (alternate grand prizes will be available to other age groups)!  Keep Reading!! For the remainder of the program, for every additional 5 books read, participants can add another entry form for the big prizes. The drawing will take place in mid-August.
