Bids for asbestos abatement services are due on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. when a public opening will occur. Late bids will be rejected.
Successful bidders for either project were required to attend mandatory pre-bid conferences which were previously held.

Asbestos abatement of all asbestos containing materials from the building as indicated on the drawings provided by Farmer Environmental Services, LLC.
TIME AND PLACE OF BID OPENING
The Owner will receive sealed bids until 3:00 p.m., August 29, 2013, local time, at Six Mile Regional Library District, 2001 Delmar Avenue, Granite City, IL 62040.
Bids received after stated time will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.
Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at the above address.
A Mandatory Pre-bid Conference will be held on August 20, 2013, at 10:00 am at Six Mile Regional Library, at above address. All plans and specifications can be obtained at the Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference. Please e-mail [email protected] to reserve a set of plans.
Bids will be based on a single lump-sum asbestos abatement price.
Bids shall include not less than the prevailing hourly wage rate determined by the Illinois Department of Labor.
Illinois Preference Act (IL. Rev. Stat. Ch. 48, Par. 2201-2207) shall apply on all public works projects.
Bid Security is required in the amount of five (5) percent of Proposal..
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond for the full amount of the bid accepted.
Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive informalities in bidding, and to award a Contract for any part of the Work or the Project as a whole.

Join us this evening, Wednesday, August 14, for a book signing featuring local Granite City author, James Kafka, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
He will be signing copies of his latest novel, Warfolkan: Casualties of Truth. His work of fantasy is “about a naive boy who suddenly finds himself in an unforgiving world, and is forced to grow up quickly when he meets a mysterious woman.”
James and his wife, Didi, both United States Air Force veterans, have been married 34 years and are the parents of four children. He is a 1975 graduate of the Granite City Senior High School.
The book will be available for purchase during the signing at the 2145 Johnson Road location of the library district.
The event is free and open to the public.
